Yoga Weekend on the Wild Atlantic Way
Join us for our Spring weekend of Yoga and fresh air on the beautiful Sheeps Head Peninsula in West Cork. We have been hosting weekends here each Spring and Autumn since 2009 and haven’t t put our prices up yet. We have taken suggestions on board over the years and now have super weekends full of yoga, laughs, fun, and great food; but not too packed, so you will still have time to switch off, snooze, meet new people and leave feeling relaxed and happy.
This weekend is open to all levels of yoga, seasoned or beginners and is designed to stretch the body, delve a bit deeper into yoga with morning workshops, take in the fresh air with an optional afternoon hike and experience mindfulness and meditation sessions and relaxation before bed. Add to this some ‘ceol agus craic’ Saturday evening and it is a truly unique weekend. See the testimonials from yogis who have been on this weekend with us.
If we all chant “Ommm’ in unison, maybe we can hold onto the sunshine!
Yoga
Your yoga mat
A blanket
A pillow if you can fit it in the car too
Any props, blocks, bolsters, you may have
Comfy clothes – shoes for hiking
Warm socks (for relaxation)
A sense of humour and adventure
Hike (optional)
Remember the hike is optional but if the weather is good it will be well worth it.
We car share out to the tip of the headland and then walk about 45 mins to the Sheeps Head lighthouse and picnic there. 45 mins back again!
Saturday hike – boots if possible – at the very least – runners or trekking shoes.
Sunday hike if you are staying for it – hiking boots are a must – nothing less.
Rain jacket – layers – sunscreen & shades – for any Irish weather we may get.
Water or juice or flask – whatever you usually drink – bottled water can be purchased locally.
Food
The food is all vegetarian but believe me there will be plenty of it! It will be fresh, homemade, and delicious. We aim to be gluten free with our ingredients but do not offer gluten free bread, so if you are gluten free bring some with you as we serve homemade wheat scones and brown bread for breakfasts and lunch.
Packed lunch
A sandwich will be provided – we will take the order the night before.
If you are wheat / gluten free you may want to bring your own bread or a container
for the filling. Rice cakes are available.
Dinner out
For the meal out, we go to The Old Creamary restaurant to dine, where you can have vegetarian or meat/fish for dinner, again if you need me to let them know in advance of gluten free food requirements, please let me know. This meal is not included in the price.
Survival
Some people like to bring a few tea bags for the house they are staying in,
and milk can be bought locally. As can biscuits, etc.
Kilcrohane is a cash only village, no credit card facilities so for any extras like the Craft shop, Grocery shop and the pub and dinner Saturday night, make sure you have some cash with you.
If you want a drink with your supper Friday, I’d advise you to buy your wine or whatever on the way as the supply in the village shop is limited.
Dunmanway is a spot where you can get some in Aldi’s, and Ryans in Durrus.
Accommodation
The houses you will be staying are modern holiday homes and provide all bedding and bath towels. The key will be in the door on arrival and we will show you where you are staying.
If a group of you are coming together, we will of course endeavour to have you all in the one house or nearby. All houses are within walking distance of the hall and the village where is all happens.
The meeting point will be the Community Hall where we are based for yoga.
Where is the Hall?
As you drive into Kilcrohane village, the church is on your right, turn right at the church and you will see Eileen’s Bar. Drive up to and around Eileen’s Bar and the Community Centre is on the left on the road. A gravel area is in front to park at.
Mobile Phone reception
Mobile phones do not always work all the time in the area so there is a chance that you may not be able to reach me.
If you think you will be arriving before 3.30pm – email or text me before Thursday on 086 3551316.
Yoga
The first class is at 4pm on Friday, it is a Stretch class and runs for an hour.
Please arrive at the hall at 3.45pm.
If you can’t make it for that class then dinner is at 7pm, please arrive by 6.45pm.
After dinner we will go through the whole plan for the weekend and then have a yoga Nidra Relaxation about 9pm.
Travelling
Allow two hours from Cobh/Cork without stops.
Follow the directions provided and do not take any turns for Skibbereen.
In Durrus make sure you take the fork to the right – and there is about 30 minutes left in your journey once you are in Durrus. There is also a grocery shop there with wine etc and loos.
I will be at the Hall from 3.45pm but to be shown to your houses you need to arrive earlier, to allow me to show you where you are based and be back at the hall for the classes.
I would advise anyone with the day off, to head into Bantry before lunch, enjoy the big Farmers Market, have a bite to eat there and then drive out to Kilcrohane for about 2 – 2.30pm. Kilcrohane is 40 minutes from Bantry.
If you are coming from work and just make it in time for dinner, come straight to the hall and I will show you to your houses after dinner.
See you all Friday for our Yoga adventure and weekend away. Aileen thats yoga

What a wonderful, tasty, wholesome collection of tastes, colours and flavours. You really served us well.
Loved how we really broke down each pose. It was a really great opportunity to refine the yoga I know. Aileen is so good at knowing when to push further and when to pull back. I feel really chilled, centred and stretched. Great weekend.
